Last night Ken got up to let the dogs out before it started to rain. When they were done, back into their kennels they went. They all sleep in their own kennels, in the office. About half an hour later, Riley starts barking and howling like I have never heard before. I laid there for a few minutes (it was 2:30 in the morning, I really didn't want to get up). After he wouldn't stop, I got up because I thought maybe Ken locked the cat in the office and that was why Riley was all worked up. Um, no. I turned on the light, and Murphy was in his kennel having what looked like a seizure. (flashbacks to Max here, not sure how I kept calm). In his kennel, he sleeps on a bed pillow with a pillow case (I know, spoiled). Sometimes he gets inbetween the pillow and the pillowcase and uses the pillowcase as a blanket. That is what had happened last night, only the corner of the pillow case was wrapped around his head. At first I thought he was freaking out because he couldn't find his way out. When I got closer to him, and saw the pillowcase wrapped around his head, I tore it off and he had thrown up this white stuff that was now all over his head because the pillow case was wrapped so tightly. He was doing this seizure thing so I pulled him onto my lap and I started yelling for Ken. After what seemed like a very long time, but probably was only a minute or two, he got off my lap and started walking like he was drunk. He was still trying to catch his breath. When I got close to him, he would growl and try to bite me. This went on for what seemed like forever and all I could think was that he had suffered brain damage from lack of oxygen. About 10 minutes later he snapped out of it and then went all crazy to see me - jumping all over me and licking my face. THANK GOODNESS. He seems fine this morning, a little more excited to see me than usual, but he seems to be fine. I am certain he would have suffocated in that pillowcase last night if Riley hadn't alerted us that something was wrong. And just 2 weeks shy of his 3rd birthday, that little dog has a lot of balls left to chase.
